Kakao Corp. Wins InnoCSR AIM Responsibility Award

Kakao Corp. has been awarded InnoCSR’s AIM Responsibility Award, which recognizes outstanding achievements of Northeast Asian companies in social responsibility and innovation.

In the wake of typhoon Yolanda [Haiyan], which devastated vast areas of the Philippines in November 2013, Kakao partnered with World Vision Philippines, a global humanitarian aid, development and advocacy organization to launch a relief-effort campaign for those stricken by the disaster. Kakao matched user donations made through World Vision in a 14-day campaign. The conclusion of the campaign saw a yield of nearly $10,000 USD in donations. Kakao had also partnered with World Vision Philippines in the wake of typhoon Maring to distribute relief materials to 500 families in Brgy. San Dionisio, Paranaque City.

Beyond financial relief support, Kakao contributed helping hands. Post Yolanda, the Kakao Philippines team flew to severely affected areas in Ormoc, Leyte to hand out food supplies, hygiene kits and lend assistance in breastfeeding operations. Provided supplies included essentials from nonperishable food and staples to cooking oil and water.

The AIM Responsibility Award was presented at the Gala Dinner Ceremonies of the 13th Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility on September 3, 2014 at the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City, Philippines.

InnoCSR has been the forefront of Corporate Social Responsibility in Asia. Over the years, it has made great strides in building awareness and provide training on sustainability and corporate social responsibility to local and multinational firms throughout Northeast Asia.
