In developing and updating all of our services, we keep user privacy and protection in mind in all of the features, options and improvements we put in place.
Starting this year and going into 2015, KakaoTalk will undergo some changes and add new features to reinforce user privacy and protection.

Starting this year and going into 2015, KakaoTalk will undergo some changes and add new features to reinforce user privacy and protection.
Some of the modifications we have planned:
- Starting today, storage time for KakaoTalk chat history data has been reduced to 2-3 days. (We had previously stored messages on the server so that users could receive messages unread for approximately 3-7 days if their phone was turned off, the app was disabled or they were away from a network connection.)
- By year’s end, KakaoTalk will add end-to-end encryption, which will offer greater levels of privacy and bolster the security of user information.
- KakaoTalk will offer a new Privacy Mode which will allow for off-the-record chatting. Activating Privacy Mode will also delete all read messages from the server. In addition, all read messages will be deleted automatically from the servers and Daum Kakao plans to gradually stop storing the chat history in cases where the sender and the recipient are both online. KakaoTalk plans to add Privacy Mode by the end of 2014.
- Off-the-record chats for 1:1 chatrooms will be added within the year and by the first quarter of 2015 for group chatrooms. To better protect user privacy and information, all messages saved to our servers will be fully encrypted.
