We recently unveiled LiveTalk, a new chatting service for Indonesian users that allows for real-time group chats on a variety of topics. Q. What exactly is LiveTalk?
A. LiveTalk is a chatting service recently launched in Indonesia that lets users enjoy group chats anonymously on a variety of topics.
Q. Do I need to download a separate app?
A. Not if you already have KakaoTalk. You can find it through the More tab on the latest version of KakaoTalk, and simply enter any LiveTalk chatroom to get started. A pop-up screen with instructions on how to navigate the different chatrooms will appear.
Q. So I can just use my KakaoTalk ID to login?
A. You’ll need to create new Live ID, as the chatrooms in LiveTalk are operated separately from KakaoTalk. The new, anonymous IDs are easy to create, and help facilitate open, free-flowing discussions. However, you CAN still import all of your KakaoTalk emoticons for use in all chatrooms.
Q. What kind of topics can I discuss on LiveTalk?
A. Nine topics, including TV, Soccer, Movie and Celebrities, are currently available. Each of these topic categories offer chatrooms dealing with more specific subjects. You can also select chatrooms based on BUZZ and NOW. BUZZ features interest-based chats on topics such as EPL football, video games and K-Pop. NOW features chats focused on TV shows and live events currently on-air, as well as the hottest news items.
Q. How do I know when certain chatrooms are open?
A. Most BUZZ chatrooms are open all day. Certain NOW chatrooms will be synced with TV schedules so you can chat about your favorite shows while you watch them. You can queue up specific chatrooms in NOW by pressing the “Reservasi” icon next to the upcoming chats. As soon as the chatroom goes live, “LiveTalk PlusFriend” will send you a reminder to join the chat. Depending on user interest and daily events, around 5 BUZZ chatrooms will be open during any given day, plus 3~4 NOW chatrooms during TV primetime hours.
Q. Can I create my own chatrooms?
A. Currently, all chatrooms are created by our admins based on popular trends and major live event schedules. Hopefully we’ll add the option for you to create your own chatrooms in the near future.
Q. What if someone is being rude or inappropriate in the chatrooms?
A. To make sure that you get the best chatting experience possible, LiveTalk offers a system to report disruptive or abusive users. You can report anyone that’s being rude or using explicit language by pressing the ‘X’ on that person’s chat bubble, and that user will be reported to the admins.
Q. Can I win sweet prizes for trying LiveTalk?
A. Yes you can! All users that participate in LiveTalk from December 1 to 14 will be automatically eligible to win special prizes. As part of the launch, LiveTalk is giving away 30 MAP vouchers (Rp. 500k per each) and 100 XXI vouchers (Rp. 100k per each) through random drawings. Winners will be announced on December 9 and 16 via KakaoTalk TMS and social media.
