Daum Kakao signed a MoU (memorandum of understanding) today with the Seoul Taxi Association and Korea Smart Card signaling its entry into the taxi business.
Joining forces with the Seoul Taxi Association and Korea Smart Card, both established service providers in Korea’s taxi industry, makes it clear that Daum Kakao will be working closely with current operators to energize the business and deliver a topnotch service.
Following the MoU, the next step for the new service will be driver recruitment, with the release of the driver app to follow.
The new service will be Daum Kakao’s first attempt at offering online-to-offline (O2O) connection, and will include separate apps for drivers and passengers, with both expected to launch in Korea in the first quarter of 2015.
