Mind Tree is a new internal program at Daum Kakao whereby staff members express appreciation for one another by gifting beverages and cards of thanks. In a company culture that values collaboration and community, Mind Tree is another way for Daum Kakao members to work closely together.
Energy drinks, vitamin drinks and bottles of apple juice are now on sale at the cafes of all Daum Kakao’s office locations as part of the Mind Tree program. The drinks are covered with white labels that express gratitude, apology –for needing someone to put extra time into a project, for example—or a sort of “special thanks.”
“Drinks, along with a small card, seemed like a perfect, small, and simple gift that we at the company can use to show others our thanks or to open up the gate for communication to someone you are working with for the first time,” said Gloria Park of the People and Culture Team.
The Daum Kakao member who receives their Mind Tree drink and card may choose to hang their card on a tree in a communal space, such as the cafeteria, or take their own paper tree to their desk and hang their card there.
Thus far, a couple hundred bottles of Mind Tree drinks are being exchanged weekly. The program began in early January of this year and was created to take the ideas behind the “Kakaoship” and the Daum Book programs and create a new gratitude reward program for Daum Kakao.
Right now the trees, as pictured above, are winter trees, but spring cherry blossom, summer bamboo, and autumn aspen Mind Trees will appear in the coming seasons.
