KakaoTalk launched five years ago today with the hope that the service would help people connect with each other in fun and positive ways.
In 2015, KakaoTalk has over 170 million users around the globe and as many as 7 billion messages are received in a day in the form of chats, photos, stickers, locations and more.
Over the years, KakaoTalk has grown beyond simple chatting to incorporate new platforms including a Digital Item Store, as well as gaming and advertising services. KakaoTalk’s powerful social graph has also allowed it to serve as the launching point for a variety of innovative new services, including KakaoStory, KakaoGroup and KakaoPay.
